Up Close And Personal

Eric Anderson's colleagues know him as an outstanding trial attorney with a work ethic that leaves associates struggling to keep up with his pace. But he also wins accolades for his hard-to-ruffle temperament and genuine decency. In short, Eric is a very likeable guy for someone who wins the "hard" cases so consistently.

Born in New York City, Eric was a Dean's List sociology major at Colgate University with a minor in classics before attending law school at the University of Pittsburgh. Before he began a prestigious two-year clerkship with Judge Robert van der Voort on the Pennsylvania Superior Court, Eric worked for Neighborhood Legal Services and organized its first child advocacy unit. In 1978, he joined Meyer Darragh where he has become one of the firm's most sought-after defense attorneys, representing corporate and organization clients in such diverse fields as aviation, banking, commercial litigation, insurance, libel, personal injury, products liability, and transportation. He became a partner in 1985 and is one of three members on the firm's executive committee.

Despite the long hours he devotes to clients, there is more to Eric Anderson than just legal work. For one thing, he is a pilot and a member of the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association and the Lawyer/Pilot Bar Association, as well as an approved attorney for the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association. His solid community reputation led to his election in 1997 to the Judiciary Committee of the Allegheny County (Greater Pittsburgh) Bar Association where he evaluates candidates for judicial office in this region. He is also one of only 250 members of the Academy of Trial Lawyers for Allegheny County.  And his life-long commitment to legal representation for all citizens continues through his membership in the Neighborhood Legal Services Association and his pro bono work representing plaintiffs in Protection from Abuse hearings.

Eric is married to Maureen Mihm, the Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Athletic Development for the University of Pittsburgh. He is the father of two children and is actively involved in their academic and extra curricular activities.
