Up Close And Personal
If he wasn't such a good lawyer, you'd swear that John Merris
Noble was in the wrong profession. After all, his performances on stage are acclaimed in
the media, his office is adorned with theater photos and memorabilia, and his gallant
style reminds you more of the leading man in the "King & I," a role he has
played on three separate occasions, than the lawyer amidst his lawbooks. But John Noble is one of
Westmoreland County's best- known attorneys, not simply because of his theater work, but
because of the skills he has brought to the legal profession for more
than 20 years.
Born and raised in DuBois in western-central Pennsylvania, John earned his B.A. from
Washington & Jefferson College where he graduated magna cum laude as an economics
major. While his fellow students elected him Student Court Justice,
his athletic peers selected him the most valuable wrestler on his college team
- as well
as achieving all-conference status in football. John then
obtained his law degree from Duquesne University School of Law in Pittsburgh, while clerking
full-time at Meyer Darragh. Upon graduation, he joined the firm.
In March, 1983, John made Greensburg his home and opened the firm's
Westmoreland County office, allowing the Pittsburgh-based firm to develop its own local
roots in the region's second largest county which has experienced great growth in the last
two decades. Over the years, John has served on the firm's executive committee,
as well as director of business development for many years and is
the person to see at any Westmoreland High School musical theatre
production. As founder of The Westmoreland Night of the Stars,
John has raised over $100,000 for Westmoreland County High School
musical theatre programs.
To say that John's legal practice is as eclectic as his stage performances only highlights
his versatility. John has been
actively engaged in a wide range of litigation and insurance-related matters over the
years. He has also carved out a special niche as one of the region's top mediators and
arbitrators, serving as chair of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee for the
Westmoreland County Bar Association. Whatever his role in court or on stage, clients know
they get a topnotch performance from John Noble. |
