Our Firm, Celebrating 100 years!

Experience

The lawyers of Meyer Darragh are well-known in the courtrooms of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio. As we approach 100 years serving the community, we continue to provide exceptional legal service with the same passion and dedication as when we first opened shop in 1913. If anything, we have become stronger, more dedicated, and more experienced as we have moved from one millenia and into the next.

Community

As a firm, we have a goal of serving the community to the fullest. We have attorneys specializing in a wide spectrum of the law -- serving everything from boroughs and counties to the individual who needs legal consultation. We also strive to take an active part in the community and do our best to give back.

Diversity

Over the decades, our firm has participated in many initiatives designed to promote diversity. The professionals at Meyer Darragh represent different backgrounds, races, ages, and genders, but we have in common a commitment to personalized, professional legal service.

Our History

The lawyers of Meyer Darragh are well-known in the courtrooms of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and eastern Ohio. With a broad client base across the country, we have spent nearly 100 years serving individuals, companies, and governments, working to solve their legal problems.

Established in 1913 and headquartered in Pittsburgh, Meyer Darragh also maintains a second regional office in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and serves a broad spectrum of corporate, business, professional and individual clients on a local, state, regional, and national basis.

As a firm, we are big enough to bring together a team of lawyers with many diverse skills - yet small enough to treat you as a personal customer with unique concerns. We offer the benefits of a larger law firm without the obvious overhead and costs -- one of the reasons we count among our clients both Fortune 500 companies and smaller entrepreneurial ventures.

Our attorneys are energetic courtroom attorneys and innovative out-of-court problem solvers.

The professionals at Meyer Darragh represent different backgrounds, races, ages, and genders, but we have in common a commitment to personalized, professional legal service.

Meyer Darragh is a member of the ALFA International legal network. ALFA International is the oldest legal network of its kind and remains one of the largest. The organization is comprised of 125 member law firms with nearly 300 offices throughout the United States and around the World. The 85 American firms and 40 international members employ over 8,000 lawyers and 10,000 legal support staff. ALFA firms are consistently recognized for their outstanding trial work, but most members maintain broad general practices that can serve virtually all client needs. ALFA seeks to provide network clients with excellent legal services at reasonable rates, and the organization offers clients a wide range of educational programs (seminars, tele-seminars, legal compendia, etc.). As an ALFA member, Meyer Darragh is able to draw upon the vast resources of the network's membership to better serve its clients. ALFA affiliation also facilitates and expedites the retention of skilled and experienced counsel in unfamiliar jurisdictions, another significant client benefit. More information about the ALFA legal network can be found at www.alfainternational.com.

Servicing Your Needs

When you hire an attorney, you want someone who has the intellect, skill, and energy to make positive things happen for you. You also need someone who understands your business and the greater community in which we live, work, and practice law.

The lawyers at Meyer Darragh are active in many professional and civic organizations. For a mid-size firm, we have more leaders in the legal community than most. Our lawyers volunteer to coach sports, promote the arts, teach in local universities, write articles on many subjects, and appear on radio and television. As a client, you benefit from a combination of our skills and associations within the tri-state region.

We are a Pennsylvania law firm, but with attorneys licensed in other states, we travel regularly all over the tri-state region of Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio to represent clients' legal needs in local, state, and federal courts.

Our lawyers also serve clients throughout the country, including the coordination of legal representation for companies with needs in all 50 states.

The people and organizations we serve are always our highest priority. Let Meyer Darragh demonstrate how we can solve your legal problems, in court and out.

MEYER DARRAGH'S STATEMENT ON DIVERSITY

Meyer Darragh is committed to diversity, including gender, racial and handicap diversity.

The firm has participated in the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, and our firm's commitment to diversity was honored in the first edition of the African American Leadership Directory.

The firm's recent efforts in this venture include Meyer Darragh's participation in the Allegheny County Bar Association's Minority Summer Clerkship Program. The firm has welcomed law students from the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University law schools as part of the initiative where students from the law schools were placed in clerkships with some of the city's law firms, corporate law departments, and government agencies. The firm has been very pleased with the diversity initiative and has participated in the program each summer since its inception in 2005.

As part of its internal diversity efforts, upon hiring with the firm, each employee is provided daylong training on firm policy, including issues relating to acceptance of a diverse workplace and acceptance of individuals of diverse backgrounds, ethnic identification, and sexual orientation.

Additionally, each employee is required to watch a video on prohibited conduct, harassment and discrimination, is provided a personnel manual upon hiring, and is trained on various policies including (1) our policy against harassment and discrimination, (2) statement of prohibited conduct, (3) procedures for making and investigating complaints of harassment and discrimination, (4) policy prohibiting workplace violence based upon, among other things, race, gender, ethnic background or sexual orientation, (5) E-Mail policy prohibiting, among other things, circulation or storage of material which contains sexual material or innuendo, racial slurs, gender offensive conduct, or any comment that offensively addresses someone's age, sexual orientation, religious or political beliefs, national origin, or disability.

Issues of diversity acceptance, recruitment, hiring, retention, and support are raised, discussed and voted on by the partnership. Many policies have been accepted and implemented to participate in, support, and fund, among others, the Allegheny County Bar Association (ACBA) Diversity Initiative, ACBA Minority Summer Intern Program, ACBA Minority Job Fair Program, ACBA Homer S. Brown Society, and Pennsylvania Bar Association Commission on Women in the Profession. Additionally, guidance is provided to the professional staff on the importance of a diverse workplace, providing clients diverse views, and supporting diversity initiatives. Diversity issues are also regularly addressed by the firm's Executive Committee. The issues addressed include our present diversity needs and initiatives, methods to increase minority retention, topics for discussion on a firm level, appointment of diversity coordinators and diversity issues for analysis at the firm's annual retreat. Also, requests for funding, support, and membership in diversity initiatives are discussed and approved with the managing partner at the management level.
