MEYER DARRAGH ATTORNEY LEADS NATIONAL SEMINAR ON CYBER-SPACE PRODUCT LIABILITY ISSUES

Under the auspices of the American Law Firm Association (ALFA), Carl A. Eck, a senior partner and the president of Meyer Darragh Buckler Bebenek & Eck, PLLC, is moderating a three-day seminar in March entitled "Cyber Sales Place: Product Liability Gets a New Venue."

Mr. Eck is the chairman of the ALFA Product Liability Practice Group and was instrumental in assembling a faculty of lawyers and business leaders to discuss the developing trends in product liability law as it affects e-commerce.

As more companies sell their products over the Internet, questions have arisen on how e-commerce affects the liability of manufacturers, distributors, and retailers of products that are alleged to cause injury or harm to purchasers and consumers.

A graduate of Notre Dame and its law school, Mr. Eck has been defending companies in product cases for over forty years. His practice has had a particular emphasis on the defense of manufacturers of automobile products, although he has represented just about every type of manufactured product.

Mr. Eck’s ALFA practice group designed a "cutting edge" seminar to assist practicing attorneys and the companies they represent in understanding how the Internet has impacted on product liability from discovery rules on websites and intra-company e-mails to litigation management.

A co-founder of Meyer Darragh, Mr. Eck is the only named partner still engaged in the full-time practice of law. His biography is available on the firm’s website at

Meyer Darragh is a 40-attorney Pennsylvania law firm with offices in Pittsburgh, Altoona, and Greensburg, and with a legal practice which focuses on defense litigation, employment law, workers’ compensation, and motor vehicle and criminal defense.

ALFA is a non-profit organization of 118 law firms selected through a peer review process. Meyer Darragh is the ALFA representative in western Pennsylvania. For more information on ALFA and this seminar, consult its website at www.alfanet.org.
